Safety is Our Driving Concern

The Kentucky Motor Transport Association is committed to safety on our state's highways. With over 400 companies, KMTA represents the unified trucking industry of Kentucky.

As an industry, trucking is a vital part of our state's economy. We carry millions of dollars worth of cargo every day, and service every community in the state. Many communities in Kentucky are served exclusively by trucks, and couldn't exist without the trucking industry.

Our main focus is keeping our state moving, while keeping our roads and highways safe. We have ongoing safety initiatives, and work closely with government agencies to ensure that our state's truck drivers are safe and courteous.

HWW LogoHighway Watch® is the roadway sector's national safety and security program that uses the skills, experiences, and "road smarts" of America's transportation workers to help protect the nation's critical infrastructure and the transportation of goods, services, and people.  Through HWW, professional truck drivers and other transportation workers are trained to recognize and report safety concerns such as broken down vehicles, hazardous road and weather conditions, traffic concerns, as well as terrorist threats. A hotline receives these reports and relays the information to local and national response teams to help avert possible terrorists plots, communicate roads safety incidents and provide aid in crisis.  HWW is administered by the American Trucking Association and under an agreement with the US Dept. of Homeland Security.

If you are intersted in becoming part of the Highway Watch program, please send your name, company name to Constance Jones at 502-227-0848 or email her at .

The KMTA Safety Council meets every 3rd Tuesday of the month.  Find out when the next meeting will be and what topic will be discussed.
