Message from the Chairman

Barry CannonThere have been many changes to our industry since Joseph Calvin Cannon started my education in trucking in the 60’s but the one thing that has always been constant is the vital role that we play in the commerce of this great nation.

Hello! I am Barry Cannon your new KMTA chairman and I am both humbled and incredibly honored to serve. The list of past chairs of this association is filled with successful and dedicated people working to promote and improve this industry. It is my hope to continue their efforts.

I am also a SMALL business person. I wrote the word small in big letters in order to make a point because I may very well be the smallest operator to ever serve as chair of this great association. So to all small carriers out there who have been members in name only I challenge you to get involved? The KMTA is a member driven organization and we are constantly encouraging input and effort from everyone. We provide the opportunity for all voices to be heard regardless of size. I am living proof of that. So I look forward to hearing from you.

To our large carrier members I say thanks. Please continue to appreciate the value of your membership and share it with your peers. Your unwavering support of this association gives us the strength to reach out and bring safety, innovation and profitability to our smaller carrier members through education and interaction that would otherwise be unattainable. When it comes to fighting for this industry we know we can always count on you to provide the tools necessary to be successful.

I want to give a big shout out to our allied members who have been there to support our events and happenings. I want all our carrier members to look over the list of allied members who believe in this association. If you see a vendor of yours on the list say thanks. If you have vendors who are currently not members encourage them to consider it. Lastly if you are not currently doing business with an allied member and are in need of that particular service then give them an opportunity to serve you.

Our staff at KMTA is always available to assist you in any way. Jamie, Amanda and Constance pride themselves in being able to make the business lives of our members just a little bit easier. So when you need supplies, information or anything pertaining to this industry please give them a call.

It is often said that a difference is made by those that show up. I hope that is true because my promise to you is that I will show up for this industry everyday and it is my desire to continue the legacy of those whom have served before me and make the Kentucky Motor Transport Association the best and most effective organization in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Thanks,

Barry J. Cannon
